Gwyneth Paltrow Is Selling Non-Toxic Lube on Goop
Forget that whole acting thing! Gwyneth Paltrow’s new passion project is non-toxic lube — which she’s selling to her Goop readers.
The 43-year-old actress revealed she was inspired to research the item for the new sex issue of her lifestyle website after seeing an episode of Grace and Frankie in which Frankie makes her own personal lubricant out of the vegetable yams.
Speaking on Chelsea Handler’s new Netflix talk show, Chelsea, she explained the decision: "We started thinking; Is lube toxic? Why is she making homemade lube? And then we started reading [the ingredients]. We’re very conscious about non-toxic products at Goop.
“And we learned that lube is actually really toxic. It goes in very absorbent areas, as we know, so, yes, we found a non-toxic, organic lube that we are now selling on Goop.com!”
Goop recommends Sliquid lube, saying, “We set out to find a lube that comes close and meets the standards of the Goop clean beauty shop. And to the joy of parched vaginas everywhere, we did.
(Yes, they said “parched vaginas.”)
“A rare find,” the description continues. “This perfectly clean lubricant does the same job as conventional brands (which tend to be loaded with toxins) — but better.
“A thick water-based and water-soluble gel, Sliquid infuses its lube with organic extracts of hibiscus, green tea, and aloe. Smooth and soothing, it isn’t sticky, is easy to wipe off, and — perhaps best of all — it’s stain-free."
Goop’s new sex issue also recommends a number of sex toys, including a $15,000, 14-karat-gold dildo.
According to Goop, “Sex toys have long since graduated from the floppy rubber things you hide in your bedside table to beautiful works of interactive art.”
The website also features an in-depth interview with Dr. Maggie Ney on the importance of non-toxic lube and dairy-free condoms.
Wait, condoms have dairy? Maybe we really do need Gwyneth’s wisdom.
