We’re only a few days out from the 2014 Oscars — hosted by the one and only Ellen DeGeneres — and we’re super excited for what’s arguably the biggest award show of the year. Is it just us, or do you totally get chills thinking of the words “red carpet?”
Lucky for us, Ellen understands our agonizing wait, and is willing to give us something in the meantime: A new segment of her show called “Reflecting on Oscar Reflections.” Past Oscar winners and current nominees are invited to share their favorite Oscar memories — and what they’re planning for this year’s awards.
And of course, when we think Hollywood A-Listers, we think Gwyneth Paltrow… and we love her more now that we see how willing she is to make fun of her snobby Oscar winner reputation.
“It’s nice to be recognized for your work with an Oscar, but I don’t let it define me,” Gwyneth said. “When I’m home with my kids, I’m still just Academy Award winner Gwyneth Paltrow.”
84-year-old Best Supporting Actress nominee for Nebraska, June Squibb, also joined in on the fun. “When I heard about my Oscar nomination, I started thinking about what I was gonna wear,” she said. “And I decided that I want a real slutty dress.”
June is so precious! We want to hug her, and adopt her as our honorary grandma.
Meanwhile, Ellen’s not looking forward to the morning after the Oscars, when The Ellen DeGeneres Show will be broadcast live. “We’re at five days and counting, which means there are six days until my live hangover show,” Ellen said. “We’ll see what happens.”
