What Did Halle Berry’s Daughter Have to Do With Her Pregnancy at 46? (VIDEO)
Just seven months ago, Halle Berry and hubby Olivier Martinez welcomed their son, Maceo-Robert Martinez, into the world. Since then, the couple have been remained mum about their latest addition — until recently, that is!
The mother-of-two — Halle’s first child, 6-year-old Nahla, is from her previous relationship with model Gabriel Aubry — sat down with Ellen DeGeneres and revealed that her 7-month-old was actually the answer to her daughter’s wishes.
“She prayed and prayed for him for, like, a year and a half, for a baby and a bunk bed, and she got both of those things,” the 47-year-old reveals. At the time, Halle was 46 and didn’t think it was actually possible to conceive at such a late age.
“They call it a geriatric pregnancy,” she adds. “This is probably way TMI, but I was really, you know, kind of premenopausal, so to have this happen was a huge… Only her prayers could have done this.” Aww!
We could be reading way too much into things, but that might explain the meaning behind little Maceo’s name! Maceo is a popular Spanish name from the 9th and 14th centuries, and actually means “Gift of God.” As for Robert, it’s Oliver’s father’s first name. According to People, the couple hyphenated the name in order to blend both ancient and modern names. Pretty powerful stuff, ya’ll.
Before Maceo’s birth, Halle and Olivier tied the knot in 2013 after just a year-long engagement, and the actress even admitted to Ellen that she never thought marriage and pregnancy would be in the cards for her again.
“The two things that I swore I would never, ever do again in life,” Halle says. “I mean I didn’t think it was possible to have another baby, and I thought for sure I had a need to never get married again, so I’ve learned to never say never,” Halle says. And we’re glad she’s taken “never” out of her vocabulary!
