Several weeks ago there were reports that Naya Rivera (Santana) was dropped from her record label, and although her rep was quick to vehemently deny all of that negative chatter, it doesn’t sound like we’ll be getting new music from the 27-year-old anytime soon. Naya released her single, “Sorry,” back in August of last year and we were expecting an album to follow, but Naya recently revealed that production on her album has stopped, at least for the time being.
Naya was interviewed by Galore magazine (she’s the publication’s summer covergirl!) and the first question they asked was about the aforementioned album. “We are kind of halting production on the album because there are so many things going on,” she dished. “Politics got involved so I’ve been putting it on the back burner; there are a lot of things that I’m doing that I’m excited about.”
Naya doesn’t mention her ex-fiancé Big Sean directly, but we’re wondering if her split with the rapper earlier this year has anything to do with her album troubles. Sean was featured on “Sorry” and some have even suspected the pair’s relationship was just meant to further each of their careers.
While we’re bummed that Naya’s album is being delayed indefinitely, she promises that she’s got plenty coming up for fans to look forward to. “[I’m] finishing this season of Glee and a lot of other things like photo shoots and things I can’t really confirm,” she said when asked what else she’s excited about.
And yet another thing for Naya to be psyched for is the vacation she plans to take this summer. While she doesn’t have a destination in mind just yet, Naya noted that she may be the kind of gal who’d go topeless on the beach, though she did have one caveat. “It depends on how private that beach is,” she reasoned. Good point, girl. But with a body like yours we don’t think you have much to worry about!
