Happy Endings Is Canceled, and Won’t Make a TV Comeback (UPDATE)

We're all out of Happy Endings puns, so we're just going to come out and say it: Happy Endings is never coming back. Ever.

TVLine confirms that Sony has given up its search for a new network to host the comedy series, and the cast's contract options expire this weekend. Oh no!

Are you sad to see Happy Endings go?

Happy Endings May Be Canceled, But It Could Still Make a TV Comeback!

For a show called Happy Endings, you'd hope that it would have one!

ABC canceled the comedy in May after three critically-acclaimed but sadly-undersubscribed seasons. Not ready to give up, however, Sony TV — the studio which produces the show — started shopping the show around to other networks.

USA expressed interest being the show's new home, but negotiations stalled. Sony also reportedly tried to woo Amazon, Netflix, TBS, and NBC.

Time is running out, however, for a network to swoop in and save the day.

As TV Line reports, the contracts with the show's cast members — Elisha Cuthbert, Damon Wayans Jr., Casey Wilson, Zachary Knighton, Eliza Coupe, and Adam Pally — expire this very week.

But the studio has not given up hope. "A lot can happen in three days," a source tells TVLine. "Sony will fight until the bitter end."
