Harry Connick, Jr.: The New American Idol Judge’s Best TV and Movie Roles
One of the best parts of Season 13 of American Idol is the new eye candy joining the judging panel. It’s already a pretty attractive group of A-listers — we’re talking Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban, for heaven’s sake — but the heat just got cranked thanks to new addition Harry Connick, Jr.
To celebrate Harry’s arrival (and to cool ourselves down a bit) we present his very best TV and movie roles. It was hard to choose when a man this fine is involved, but we did what we could. After all, he is a two-time Primetime Emmy Award winner beside all that music stuff.
Cheers (1992) Bet you didn’t know one of Harry’s earliest crossover performances was on Cheers. In 1992, he guest starred as Russell Boyd for a single episode of the iconic series. Not a bad place to start!
Hope Floats (1998) Harry really got his dreamy on when he co-starred with Sandra Bullock in this romantic movie staple. Just look at the poster and imagine you’re in Sandy’s place. We weren’t the only ones who fell head over heels in love with Harry in the role, either. He was nominated for a Blockbuster Entertainment Award in 1999. Thank goodness his career has lasted longer than Blockbuster.
Dolphin Tale (2011) Need an instant hit? Just add water. And Harry Connick, Jr. The new Idol judge took a leading role in this heartwarming film about a dolphin that loses its tale. Look for Harry to reprise his role as Dr. Clay Haskett in the forthcoming sequel, Dolphin Tale 2, now filming.
Will & Grace (2002-2006) We saved the best for last. Harry spent the early part of the 21st century claiming the hearts of Will & Grace fans far and wide as Leo Markus, the dashing doctor who wins, loses, and re-wins Grace’s heart during the series.
