Watch Harry Connick, Jr. Perform on American Idol 2014 — March 13, 2014

Dreams do come true, America! Tonight Harry Connick, Jr. took to the American Idol stage and gave us a real treat. It was a much-needed one too, this episode being an elimination show and all.

Looking at that hunky mug three hours every week can blur our memories of what a talented act Harry actually is. But he sure gave us a good reminder tonight! Singing his brand new single, "One Fine Thing," Harry showed us exactly why he’s sitting on the judging panel this year and no, it’s not just because of those adorable dimples and that occasional Southern drawl.

Our fangirling aside, what also made this particular number memorable was the fact that it’s the first time a judge has taken to the Season 13 stage. The judges performing and getting their own critiques is a beloved tradition on American Idol so props to Harry for being the first to go this year. And while we’re sure Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban can muster up some magic if/when their turns come, HCJ is going to be a mighty tough act to follow.

With Ryan Seacrest, J.Lo, and Keith looking on and snapping to the beat from the balcony, Harry smoldered on stage before taking to the piano and showing the world what he’s really made of. His fingers flyin' Harry showed us what’s what as he brought down the house. No lie. We wanted him to keep playing all night long.

If you need some more HCJ in your life, check out the video for the single he started his set out with. We’ll have it on repeat for the foreseeable future.

What did you think? Would Harry pass his own critique? Hit the comments and share the love!
