Katy Perry: “I Don’t Need a Dude” to Have a Baby (VIDEO)

Katy Perry's womb will wait for no man! In the August 2014 issue of Rolling Stone, she dishes about her plans to start a family — and how they're not necessarily contingent on having a special gentleman in her life.

"I want to be [having babies] at the right time," says the Dark Horse singer. "And that's not in the next two years, you know? Maybe it's in a five-year plan, but I need to really be able to focus 100 percent of my attention on it."

What does that mean? "I don't really want to take the child on tour," she explains. "Not until, like, birth through five is over."

While Katy has some idea about what her needs for becoming a mama will be, she says that having a special man on her life isn't super-high on her list. "I don't need a dude," she says. "It's 2014! We are living in the future; we don't need anything. I don't think I'll have to, but we'll see. I'm not anti-men. I love men. But there is an option if someone doesn't present himself."

KP brings up her friends, co-dads Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka, as an example of modern parenting — the couple had their twin children, Gideon and Harper, via surrogate in October 2010. "Their twins are beautiful," gushes Katy.

Other topics covered in her interview: cultural appropriation (collar-pull quote: "I know that's a quote that's gonna come to f— me in the ass, but can't you appreciate a culture?"), going to therapy, and looking like "a square rectangle" during her "teenage awkward phase." The issue hits newsstands this Friday, August 1.
