Hayden Panettiere has been making waves her entire career. From booking her first gig when she was 11 months old, to making everyone want to “Save the Cheerleader,” to belting out some of the most memorable country ditties to ever grace our TV — this girl has done it all.
This time around, Hayden is making waves by teaming up with Southern Living as the first celebrity to grace the cover of the mag in its 48-year history. The topic of discussion for her cover story? Living in Nashville, of course!
“I like being in a place where people appreciate the little things and don’t need a lot of stuff to be happy,” the Nashville star tells the mag. “At my core, this is the kind of person I am and want to be.”
Hayden may have been born in New York, but since landing the role of Juliette Barnes on the hit ABC drama, she’s made a life for herself in Music City.
“Living in Nashville gives me a sense of normalcy that I wasn’t sure I was ever going to get back in my life,” she says. “When I first got here, all my defenses were still up, and I was waiting for that world to suddenly creep back in. When it didn’t, I realized that I can live a normal life here with people who don’t judge you based on what you do or who you are in the public eye.”
Hayden is a fan of Nashville's “laid-back” atmosphere, and says it is a stark contrast to a sprawling metropolis.
“In L.A. and New York you go out to lunch and everyone is wearing high heels,” she says. “In Nashville if I see someone wearing heels, I get the sense they might not be from around here.”
