True Blood: HBO Releases Full-Length Trailer for Season 7 — Still No Eric! (VIDEO)

Two major themes arise in the first full-length trailer for True Blood's seventh and final season: Blood and purpose. The look at the HBO series' last hurrah splices Season One flashbacks with tiny glimpses of the violence to hit Bon Temps when the series returns on Sunday, June 22 — and it seems like the writers have taken care to wrap up the series. That does not, however, mean that everyone gets a happy ending.

The trailer starts similarly to the teaser trailer, with Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) having possibly a fae-related altered consciousness. But we quickly flashback to earlier episodes: The early years of Sookie and Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer), and eventually back to when Adele Stackhouse (Lois Smith) was alive and dispensing her grandmotherly wisdom. "There is a purpose for everything," says Gran. "That purpose will be revealed when the time is right."

We get no hints as to what plan has been brewing, but we do see some old wounds reopened. "There ain't nothing in this world that can make right what you've done to me and my family," says Andy Bellefleur (Chris Bauer) to Bill, who we've learned over the course of the series is his he and his late cousin Terry Bellefleur (Todd Lowe)'s great-great-great-great grandfather.

It's not just the characters' reflection that hints to some major developments — we also see a significant amount of death. A party at Merlotte's turns deadly, and we see a ton of vampires converging on a body. Another character is splashed in blood with her hands covering her face. "They're coming for every goddamn human in this town," agonizes Sookie.

"Life is about to add up to something," says Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell) in a clip, further teasing — however vaguely — what the series will culminate with.

Likely in reference to his nearly two centuries in Bon Temps — but just as appropriate for what Season 7 looks like — Bill quips from the passenger seat of a car that may or may not still be Andy's. "It's like the past has caught up with the present."

Sounds like we're going to learn a lot about what makes Bon Temps tick… but like we're going to lose a lot of folks, too. And our most major question still hasn't been answered: Where is Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard)?!

Other stray observations:

Does Sookie only own one shirt this season, or are we only seeing clips of her in one episode? We do see her in a robe for about two seconds, but for the most part, she's wearing the same floral long-sleeve tee that we see her wearing exclusively in the HBO Spring Preview and the teaser.

Does Bill come between Alcide Herveaux (Joe Manganiello) and Sookie? We see a lot of Alcide and Sookie making out, but we also see Bill asking Sookie if she loves him. "I thought once I'd had your blood it was forever," says Sookie.

Lafayette Reynolds (Nelsan Ellis) looks amazing, as per usual.
