Heidi Klum Saves Her Kids’ Afros For Art Projects

Lots of parents make the decision to keep their kids’ hair after their first buzz at the barber, but German supermodel and TV host Heidi Klum takes this tradition to a whole new level. She recently told YourTango that she saves the locks for art projects!

“So two of my boys, they have big afros, and when I shaved them all down, I kept all the hair and I put it in a Ziploc bag,” Heidi says. “I keep everything! But then, I waited and I'm like, 'I don't know what I'm gonna do with this.' It was so beautiful, this whole bag of afro: one for Henry, one for Johan. The next time they painted their faces, I glued all their hair around it, so it was like this three-dimensional painting. It's their face! And Henry was always a bit more blonde, like the tips are really blonde, and Johan's more dark. So you can see, this one looks like Henry and this one looks like Johan. It's so pretty.”

Uhmmm does this sound a little strange to anyone else? Either the gorgeous 40-year-old mother of four is super duper creative or she has a serious hoarding problem!

In her defense, Heidi has always been into creating wildly creative ‘art’ with her body, most notably for her extravagant Halloween costumes. In 2011, for example, she and ex-husband Seal dressed as primates, complete with fake bare breasts for her costume; and in 2008, Heidi painted herself blue, strapped on a harness of six extra arms, and wore a belt of shrunken heads and bloodied, severed arms to depict Kali, the Hindu goddess of destruction.
