Hilary Duff is no stranger to the limelight, and she’s warming her son Luca up to the public eye slowly, but surely — she just prefers it to be on her own terms.

Luca, who is now 17 months old, has been watched by the keen eye of Hilary’s adoring fans since his birth. We’ve looked on as he grew up, discovered his obsession with buttons, and eventually took his first steps as he transitioned from an adorable little baby into a proper teetering toddler.

While the 25-year-old Lizzy McGuire star does well to document each of Luca’s milestones, she has been vocal about her uneasiness of paparazzi around her son. She once tweeted, “Paparazzi at the park is WRONG! ALL kids should be able to play and not feel different than the others because weirdos r snapping pictures!”

It’s clear that Hilary prefers to take her own shots of little Luca, posting to her Twitter and Instagram accounts, and we’re not complaining! This gives us and other fans open access to the starlet’s life with baby, and sometimes we even get a shot of her hunky husband of 3 years, and Luca’s dad, ex-NHL player Mike Comrie.

Hilary’s most recent snap of Luca came in on Saturday, showing the mother and son looking adorable together on a sunny day. The blondes are unmistakable relatives, Luca sporting his famous mom’s nose. Hilary looks chic in a nautical inspired floppy hat with a knot detail and to-die-for lashes, while her growing boy looks comfy in an adorable striped shirt.

“My boy. His little spirit is so lovely,” reads the caption.

If he’s anything like his mom (it’s undeniable, really), we’re sure we haven’t scratched the surface of his incredible spirit yet.
