Did Bachelor 2014 Ratings Bounce Back for Hometown Dates?

Like a beautiful aerial image of a sinkhole in the earth’s crust, The Bachelor Hometown Dates sometimes must be examined closely to be believed. On the February 24 episode of Season 18, Juan Pablo Galavis rolled like a hole-sinker into the towns of his Final Four ladies, and it was… sort of awful. TVbytheNumbers was nice enough to take their weekly headcount of all the folks who flipped on the tube to flip out over the splendor of Andi Dorfman’s dad.

So, how many chuckleheads chuckled through Clare Crawley’s sisters giving Juan Pablo the twice-over? How many disbelievers shook their noggins at the ease with which Nikki Ferrell’s family let Juan P become “family” just by sitting down at the dinner table? Not that many, actually.

Only 8.17 million folks sighed in relief as Renee Oteri fled a possible life with Juan Pablo when he let the single mom go after the best Hometown he had all episode. The eighth episode of 2014’s season pulled in a 2.5 rating and 7 rating share in the 18-49 demographic. While it was a definite improvement over last week’s 2.2 rating — a series low for this point in the season — the half-million bump up in viewers (from 7.61) still wasn’t super.

Keep in mind Season 18 kicked off with the highest start in three years, and last year, Sean Lowe had a 3.0 rating with a 9 rating share and 9.26 million viewers to watch his own Hometown Dates, with Desiree Hartsock eliminated in the end.

Will Juan Pablo be able to bounce back with tonight’s Fantasy Suites episode pulling in enough viewers to take the season out with gusto? Will you be watching? Tell us in the comments below!
