We were under the impression that Glee’s sixth and final season was set to start filming next month, but given a recent announcement about Lea Michele’s (Rachel) summer travel itinerary, we think there may have been a change of plans. Either that or Lea will be really tired once she arrives on the show’s Los Angeles set!
So where’s our gal going?
According to the website for the Giffoni Film Festival, Lea is set to be honored on July 20, and it sounds like she plans to accept her prestigious award in person. The festival runs from July 18-27, and it’s held in the little southern Italian town of Giffoni Valle Piana in Campania, which is close to Salerno and Naples, so we totally get why Lea wouldn’t want to skip this one.
The Giffoni Film Festival is described as the “largest children’s film festival in Europe, and possibly the world,” and clearly those in charge of the lineup are aware of all Lea has contributed to the worlds of arts and entertainment. “Known to teens the world over for her role as Rachel Berry in the television series Glee, Ms. Michele has won a Satellite Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and a Teen Choice Award, as well as two Golden Globe nods and an Emmy nomination for her portrayal of the popular McKinley High School teen,” the website reads.
The site also makes note of Lea’s many other artistic accomplishments, including her album, Louder; her book, Brunette Ambition; and her various Broadway and film roles. She’s certainly done a lot in her 27 years, don’tcha think?
And although we don’t know how long Lea will be in Italy for, we do know she’s eager to tour Louder internationally, so maybe she’ll even find a way to squeeze in some appearances for her international fans!
