Hope Solo Pleads Not Guilty to Domestic Violence

Update (June 23, 2014):

Hope Solo has entered a not guilty plea to assaulting two relatives following her arrest this weekend, reports CNN. She has been released on grounds that she not drink alcohol and avoids contact with the two relatives in question, her sister and 17-year-old nephew. A pretrail hearing has been set for August 11.

As for what all went down, TMZ reports Hope's nephew pulled a gun on his aunt during the confrontation at his house. It was "an old gun that does not work," the nephew reportedly told police. "[Hope] didn't leave but walked around me, cornering me like a shark."

Original story (June 21, 2014):

It's just not safe to party with Hope Solo.

You may recall how, back in 2012, the U.S. soccer star and Dancing With the Stars Season 13 alum allegedly fought with her then-boyfriend, NFL player Jerramy Stevens, during a late-night party at her Kirkland, WA home. Multiple people were said to be injured, including Hope. Jerramy was arrested but charges were not filed and they ended up getting married the very next day.

Fast-forward two years, and a somewhat similar story has emerged. The Seattle Times says Hope, 32, was arrested overnight (June 20-21) for allegedly striking her sister and nephew at the Kirkland home she shares with Jerramy.

Hope is reportedly being held without bail on two counts of investigation of domestic-violence assault. Police told the Seattle Times that Hope got into an argument with relatives during "a big party" at her house. Kirkland police Lt. Mike Murray said officers were called to the home after a noise complaint. "It was an out-of-control situation," he said. During the party, Hope is said to have assaulted her two family members; Lt. Murray added that there "were visible injuries" on them.

So they are investigating what happened, and we’ll have to see if there are any updates.

Hope was the standout goalkeeper on two gold-medal winning Olympic teams, and during the World Cup, and she’s now goalie for Seattle Reign FC. In her 2012 book, Solo: A Memoir of Hope, Hope accused her DWTS partner, Maks, of being "rough and mean" during their rehearsals, alleging that he manhandled her on several occasions and gave her a hard slap to the face, which he denied.
