Kailyn Lowry Says Her Hospital Wouldn’t Allow Placenta Encapsulation

Let's take a trip down memory lane to that one time Kailyn Lowry ate her placenta. This Teen Mom 2 star made tabloid headlines when she announced her decision to dehydrate and encapsulate her placenta so she could eat it every morning with her breakfast, and while placenta encapsulation does offer some nutritious benefits to postpartum moms, it's hardly a common practice.

This week on Teen Mom 2, Kailyn told her OB/GYN all about her craving for placenta, and the announcement was pretty much met with WTFs. Kailyn's doctor could barely contain his horror, and made it clear that he didn't think encapsulation was a good idea.

As you might expect, Kailyn ditched this dude for a doc in Delaware, tweeting, "I ended up switching docs and encapsulating my placenta! ;)"

Many fans were surprised that Kailyn's obstetrician was so unsupportive, and even Jenelle Evans took it to Twitter to voice her shock.

"Yeah I found that weird he didn't want u doing that," she tweeted. "It's kinda your choice.. Lol."

Kailyn's response? "He told me the hospital wouldn't allow it."

Hmm, mysterious. This kind of makes sense considering that most hospitals immediately whisk the placenta away for weighing and pathology, but luckily Kailyn's local Dover doctor was able to send her placenta out for dehydrating after (presumably) performing the necessary tests. Phew!

Also, is anyone else suddenly hungry?
