We got a super-heartwarming moment out of Julia Yeung (Malese Jow) and her new main squeeze Eric (Jesse Luken) last night! Taylor (Natalie Hall) lined Julia up to sing a song at Marshall High School's Winter Blast — as is tradition for new students. She froze up during the beginning of her song, though, so Eric joined her onstage for a duet. The pair totally killed it, delivering a ridiculously adorable performance! But which song were they singing?
Although the series takes place in 2024, they dug up a blast from the past for Julia's song! It's a popped-up version of Exile's soft-rock jam "Kiss You All Over," from 1978. While the synthesizer is a pretty big part of the original song, the version used in the series tightens and updates the synths for a more digital sound, which seems appropriate for the 80s-inspired school dance wardrobe of the 2020s.
Speaking of fashion, Exile's original video for the song is full of some amazing choices — mullets, flowing men's blouses, fat leather suspenders, and even a white leisure suit.
Julia looked a much more genuine kind of amazing while performing her version, in a BCBGMAXAZRIA cutout dress paired with bold, yellow eyeshadow. Way to rock your first school dance, Jules!
