We first heard that Twilight hunk Taylor Lautner had joined the ranks of a British sitcom named Cuckoo five months ago — but now we have the result of his surprising career move in a revealing new preview for the show's second season.

At the beginning of the preview, the 22-year-old is nearly unrecognizable with long hair and a long beard — as his character has just left an ashram. But it's not long before he's freshly-shaven… and showing off a lot of skin, thanks to a conveniently-falling towel!

The BBC Three comedy centers on the Thompson family of Lichfield, Staffordshire. In the first season — or, as the Brits say, the first series — Ken (Greg Davies) and Lorna (Helen Baxendale) are surprised when their daughter (Tamla Kari) returns from her gap year with a drugged-out American husband, Cuckoo (played by Andy Samberg).

The show was a massive hit among audiences when it debuted in September 2012 and was renewed shortly thereafter, but Andy had to ditch the role because of his busy schedule stateside. (He's now starring in FOX's Brooklyn Nine-Nine.)

So now the show has killed off Cuckoo — thanks to a handy Himalayan climbing accident — and is introducing Taylor as Cuckoo's son.

Granted, the two actors are only 13 years apart — but hey, that's cuckoo, too!
