Benedict has taken the world by storm since first gaining worldwide fame with the premiere of Sherlock in 2010 — nowhere more so than on the World Wide Web.

Sure he may be famous for his roles in War Horse, Star Trek, The Hobbit, 12 Years a Slave, The Fifth Estate, August: Osage County, Parade's End, and so on and so on — but he's just as famous for his massive online fan following.

For its "Top 5 Friday" series, ClevverTV takes us through the "Top 5 Times Benedict Cumberbatch Has Made the Internet Swoon."

First up are all the various ways Benedict has become a meme. And we're not just talking about his groupies naming themselves "Cumberb—hes." Nay, we're talking the fun ways people have made fun of his long neck, for example, and the side-by-side comparisons of Benedictine otters.

Then there's that glorious name, which even Benedict can laugh at. "Cumberbatch — it sounds like a fart in a bath, doesn't it?" he says. "What a fluffy old name. I can never say it on a Monday morning. When I became an actor, Mum wasn't keen on me keeping it."
