How Old Is Game of Thrones Star Jack Gleeson?

On Game of Thrones, Jack Gleeson portrayed the sadistic boy king Joffrey Baratheon. At the start of Game of Thrones, Joffrey is 16 years old (we can assume this since he is mentioned as being 17 in Season 2), meaning that he died before his twentieth birthday. Joffrey’s book counterpart in A Song of Ice and Fire passed away at the age of 14, keeping with the tradition of the show’s versions of characters being older than the book’s versions. So which age is Jack closer to in real life?

Jack was born on May 20, 1992, making him 21 (almost 22). Jack is older than both incarnations of Joff, but he’s definitely closer to the show’s representation.

Since Jack is in his twenties, how does his age stack up against those around him on the show? His parents, played by Lena Headey and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, are 40 and 43, respectively, meaning they’re certainly old enough to be Jack’s mom and dad (though they would be pretty young parents). And Natalie Dormer, who plays Joffrey’s widow Margaery, is shockingly 32 IRL. We thought they were much closer in age! Sophie Turner, who plays Joff’s ex Sansa, is much closer to his age, she’s only 18. It’s a shame they weren’t able to work things out!
