On Game of Thrones, Pedro Pascal portrays Oberyn Martell, who is set to square off against the giant Mountain in a fight for the ages in Season 4, Episode 8, “The Mountain and the Viper.” Pedro looks considerably smaller than the Mountain in the trailer for the episode, but how tall is he in real life?Like a number of male actors, finding out Pedro’s real height is no easy task. IMDb lists him at 5’11”, yet some online sources claim he’s only 5’8”. Whichever is correct, it seems we can all agree that Pedro, and therefore Oberyn, is under six feet tall. He’s not exactly tiny, but he’s still considerably shorter than the Mountain, who is played by 6’9” Thor Bjornsson.
While the possibly less-than-one-foot difference in height may not seem like all that much, the show will likely employ camera tricks to make the difference between the two appear much more staggering, giving the bout more of a David vs. Goliath feel. After all, the Mountain in the A Song of Ice and Fire books is eight feet tall, and eight foot tall actors are notoriously hard to come by!
