Lucy Hale: I Always Knew I Was a Country Artist (VIDEO)
Lucy Hale is gearing up for the release of her debut country music album Road Betweenon June 3, and we couldn’t be more excited! Though we may know her best as funky Bohemian Aria Montgomery, we’re eager to learn more about Luce through her music. The Pretty Little Liars star gave us a glimpse into what that might look like when she sat down with ClevverTV to chat about her true-to-her sound. What did Lucy say?
“Music was my first love. It’s what got me to Pretty Little Liars and Pretty Little Liars is now what got me back to my music,” Lucy told the entertainment news outlet. “And so, it’s nice to get to be able to sing everyday again. Also, we’ve been working on the album for like two years, so to finally be able to talk about it and to say that it’s a little more than a month away from being released is just very exciting.”
When asked whether she ever wavered in what kind of music she wanted to produce, Lucy said no: “I think I always kind of knew,” Lucy said of her country album. “I grew up singing country music, and I mean I’m a music-lover in general. I love all types of genres. And I’ve sang pop music before. The whole reason I got a record deal was because I was singing on a TV show and I was doing A Cinderella Story, and it was music that was entirely different from my sound. It was almost like I had to act-sing when I was doing A Cinderella Story.”
Lucy went on to say that any other genre “wouldn’t have felt true to who I am,” and that putting herself out there with this album is both really exciting and really nerve-wracking: “People know me from the characters and, half the time, people call me Aria out in public… What’s so exciting about this album is it’s my story and it’s the things that I’ve been through so far and you’ll have kind of a clear idea of what I stand for, the things that I’ve been through.” We can’t wait to get to know one of our favorite TV stars in a new light!
