Ian Harding is headed to the big screen! The Pretty Little Liars star has landed the lead role in Dynamite: A Cautionary Tale, an indie flick from director Tate Steinsiek, reports Deadline.

We know Ian best as Ezra Fitz, Aria’s once-charming, now horribly suspect older beau, but in the indie drama — based on a true story — which takes place during the advent of mainstream pornography in the 1960s, Ian will tackle a very different role. The 27-year-old will play Max Bornstein, a charming middle-class college kid who leaves university to partner with a childhood friend to distribute contraband in the underground, highly illegal pornography industry. However, his life begins to spiral out of control when he becomes addicted to heroin. Whoa. We know you’re going to need a minute to let that sink in, PLL fans.

The screenplay was written by Max Bornstein himself, so Ian shouldn’t have too hard of a time getting into character. While this is a departure from the squeaky-clean world of Pretty Little Liars, Ian should also find some inspiration in Ezra, who will be showing off his “wicked” side in Season 4B.

Ian is currently filming another indie flick, Bethlehem, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The film will focus on “high school football, the closing of Bethlehem Steel, and the difficulties that many families endured as a result.”

As much as we love seeing the PLL cast wreck havoc in Rosewood, we know they all their passion projects waiting in the wings. Ashley Benson is currently filming her own indie in New York City, while Lucy Hale pursues a career in country music. We couldn’t be prouder of our PLL crew!

Are you excited to see Ian a compelling new role? Sound off in the comments!
