If you haven’t been following the saga of Justin Bieber’s pet capuchin monkey, let us recap for you:
For his 19th birthday, the singer was gifted with a 17-week-old monkey named Mally. They had some great times together, “kickin’ it” and sleeping with teddy bears. Normal monkey stuff. Justin loved the little animal so much, he thought it deserved to see Germany. Unfortunately, it was such a spur-of-the-moment decision, JB forgot Mally’s papers — the monkey equivalent of a passport.
Since then, Mally has been waiting for her human to rescue her at the Munich Animal Protection League shelter. If Justin doesn’t send the required paperwork by tomorrow, the monkey will most likely be transferred to a German zoo.
The Vampire Diaries star Ian Somerhalder tweeted a link to the story on RYOT — he’s a member of the news site’s advisory board. He also tweeted a message to Justin, saying, “@justinbieber i hope the welfare of this animal is a priority for you.Its on you to set a good example man...” When it comes to animal rights, Ian has a real chimp on his shoulder. (Sorry. That was in-ape-ropriate.)
Whether or not Ian inspires Justin to take care of his monkey, let’s just hope Mally finds a safe and permanent home.
