We’ve seen many sides of Ian Somerhalder actor, model, philanthropist, animal-lover but, now we’re getting a new one: animated. That’s right, The Vampire Diaries actor is about to be immortalized in comic book form.

Fame: Ian Somerhalder was recently released in print and on digital platforms! The comic book will follow the life story of Ian, touching on his roles on Smallville, Lost, and TVD, as well as his work as an environmental activist in the wake of the BP oil spill in the gulf. The work is 32 pages in length, and was written by Michael L. Frizell with art by Manuel Diaz.

Though Ian has been drawn in comic book form before as the characters he portrays, this is the first time he will be featured as himself in a comic. Why did writer Michael L. Frizell decide to capture Ian’s life in comic?

"I knew little of the man beyond his turn as Boone in Lost. I've never seen The Vampire Diaries. But, I feel like I understand him, and his passion for environmentalism in the wake of hurricane Katrina,” said Michael. “Visit [New Orleans] once, and it's easy to see why people fall in love with it. Visit it now, and it's easy to feel compassion for the people living there. Add to this issue the Deepwater Horizon oil spill and the devastation that followed, and you just feel compelled to do something… anything. I admire Mr. Somerhalder's efforts."

We admire Ian’s efforts as an activist, as well, and are excited to see him get some recognition for the work he does outside of his role as actor. Very cool, Ian!
