Reports of Bradley Cooper Playing Indiana Jones Denied (VIDEO)

Update (March 27, 2014): A source "close to production" tells Huffington Post that the report that Bradley Cooper replacing Harrison Ford in future Indiana Jones movies is unfounded and that there are "no plans to reboot the franchise with another actor."

Meanwhile, producer Frank Marshall joked on Twitter that he "can only confirm that Katy Perry will not be the new Indiana Jones."

Original story (March 26, 2014): Bradley Cooper's next career move might involve indie movies as much as Indy movies, if a new Latino Review article can be believed.

According to the site, Disney wants to produce a fifth Indiana Jones installment, having inherited the franchise with its 2012 purchase of Lucasfilm.

The only problem? Lead star Harrison Ford is now 71 and might be too old to carry another action-packed sequel.

Harrison played the titular archaeologist-adventurer in all four Indy movies so far — all of which were directed by Steven Spielberg — 1981's Raiders of the Lost Ark, 1984's Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, 1989's Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and 2008's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

The series has earned just under $2 billion in global box office.

"There is a date, and if Indiana Jones 5 is not moving forward by then, the studios are 100% prepared to recast a younger Dr. Jones and ready up a new trilogy," Latino Review reports, clarifying that it'd be a recast and not a reboot — a là the revolving door of actors playing James Bond.

These claims might sound like idle gossip, but the news comes from the same sources who told Latino Review that Bradley would be voicing Rocket Raccoon in Guardians of the Galaxy — scoop that turned out to be 100 percent true.

And hey, we can totally imagine Bradley donning that iconic fedora and cracking that bull whip.
