Is Bachelorette 2013 Contestant Brooks Forester Mormon?

The moment we heard Brooks Forester hails from Salt Lake City, Utah, we wondered the same thing as many a curious reader: Is he a Mormon?

Since SLC is the hub of all things Latter Day, it’s an obvious thing to ask, right? Unfortunately, the answer to our nosy little question isn’t quite as clear.

A “insider” for Ok! Here Is The Situation claims Brooks is indeed Mormon, adding, “He used to go to my singles ward. Not sure if he’s still active but he was two years ago.” The site also points to his brother’s Facebook, which says he likes the Book of Mormon, Mitt Romney, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Not exactly foolproof evidence but interesting nonetheless.

What's a little more interesting is a clip from Episode 5 where fellow contestant Mike Garofola confronts current "villain" Ben Scott about an Easter church service the men (well, most of them) attended.

"What about Easter, Ben? You didn't go to church on Easter," Mike says. "There was a Mormon there. There was a Jewish person there. Every other guy was there of the group except for you."

Ignore the awkwardness and you'll notice Mike refers to a Mormon in the group. Could this be Brooks? There's not exactly another candidate currently in the running.

Here’s what else we know so far:

1. Brooks has a whole lot of siblings.

If Bachelorette Desiree Hartsock wins the love of this bashful marketing rep, she should start her Christmas shopping now. Brooks is one of 10 siblings. T-E-N. That means lots of birthdays, weddings, and holiday parties to prep for.

2. He attended the University of Utah.

Brooks’ alma mater frequently makes the top ranks for the Princeton Review’s “Most Religious Students.” Even though the school doesn’t identify with any particular religion, it is only a short drive from Mormon university Brigham Young, which ups the chances of cross-over (get it?).

3. He identifies as Christian. (At least, we’re pretty sure...)

As if these two crazy kids didn’t already have enough in common, now they can start their own Bible study group since faith is super important to Des, too. She often blogs about Jesus (not to be confused with Kanye’s Yeezus) and hopes to find a man who shares her beliefs. Brooks hasn’t specifically walked around with a Bible on the show, but we’re getting a spiritual vibe from him so far.

Obviously, it doesn’t matter which religion Brooks does or doesn’t practice. We just want to know as much as possible about this particular suitor in case he becomes the lucky Mr. Hartsock. Curious if he does? We’ve got the answer...
