Glee Is Definitely NOT Canceled In Wake of Cory Monteith’s Death — Report

Fans have been overwhelmed with grief since Cory Monteith (Finn) passed away suddenly on Saturday, July 13 from a drug overdose. But even while we shed many tears over the loss of the heart of Glee, we had another concern on our mind: Would Glee producers cancel the show in the wake of Cory’s death?

We would have understood if they had decided to not go on with the show, although it would have been hard to take. After all, the Fox show was created around Finn’s character, with his development as a singer and performer, and later a coach, one of the best parts of Glee.

But TMZ has learned that Glee is definitely not canceled, and we’re certainly breathing a little easier knowing the rest of our favorite characters won’t be leaving us so suddenly as Cory did.

Glee is definitely not canceled,” a source close to production told TMZ on July 17. “If you look at the dollars and cents of the show and that it was very much an ensemble with new kids being added last year when some graduated. It’s clear that the show wasn’t about one character."

True, there are many characters on the show we have loved as long as Finn, and even more that we’re getting to know through their development into themselves as we move into Season 5. The show was renewed for two seasons back in April, and it would have been quite the 180 to cancel it when the demand is obviously there. The Glee Project was officially canceled this week, though a TGP rep stated that the decision was not related to Cory Monteith’s death.

Though it’s uncertain when the show will return, since producers are rumored to be delaying its return while they reformat their scripts to deal with Finn’s departure.

While we’re happy the show is returning, it will be hard to tune back in, knowing that though Finn wasn’t the only point of the show, he was certainly one of the highlights. We will miss Finn dearly.
