Is Ezra “A”? Clues From Pretty Little Liars Season 4, Episode 19 — “Shadow Play”
Is Ezra Fitz (Ian Harding) really "A" on Pretty Little Liars? It's the question of the season, and we're always on the lookout for more clues.
Most of Season 4, Episode 19 (“Shadow Play") took place in Spencer's head, and while those scenes might provide some hints from the writers, we're not going to take the things that happened in noir-verse as proof one way or another. Still, there were some clues worth examining from the portion of the episode that took place in the real world.
Clues Ezra IS "A"
The doctored diary. Messing with Ali's diary in subtle ways does seem like an "A" move, and it certainly seems to prove that Spencer was on the right track by connecting Ezra and Board Shorts, since he clearly wants to cover up some of the clues in the diary.
The villain conversation. Aria and Ezra had a conversation about how villains sometimes win in stories, and he looked very shifty. Thinking about his own bad deeds and desire to win, perhaps?
Clues Ezra ISN'T "A"
Not knowing Spencer had the pics. It seems like Ezra was unaware that Spencer already had pictures of Ali's diaries (unless he's playing a very deep game, and the changes are just to mess with the Liars and throw them onto a random track?). While that doesn't exclude him being "A", we're kind of used to "A" knowing everything about the Liars. We find it hard to believe the real Uber "A" wouldn't be aware that Spencer already had photos of the diary, but maybe we're giving "A" a little too much credit.
The Mona connection. OK, this one could go either way. But at this point we kind of see Mona as a free agent. While it's possible she'd work with Uber "A", we don't find it likely, so if she and Ezra are working together it makes us think he's less likely to be the head honcho. But really, that's just a gut feeling.
