Chris Harrison said Emily's journey is going to be different from past seasons in that there won't be as much "superficial drama." But that doesn't mean we won't get a "villain" or at least The Guy The Other Guys Can't Stand.
Previewing the season to Entertainment Weekly, Chris says Kalon is one of the bachelors to watch. Chris calls Kalon "cocky, brash, and arrogant." "He makes a huge first impression, but the big story is, will it fade quickly?" Chris also disses Kalon's ride. "I don't know where that helicopter came from, but it was pretty unimpressive. It would be like showing up in a Prius instead of a limo."
It's a bad sign when The Rosemaster is already insulting you. On the premiere, Kalon introduces himself in the video package with "I'm a young, fun, good-looking guy with a few dollars in my pocket. I can wine, I can dine — I am the modern Southern gentleman."
He says he's at a point in his life where he wants to make a change and not be so obnoxious. And since he's from Houston and knows our beloved Bachelor Pad 2 tiara princess Erica Rose, we're willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he'll be funny like her instead of just a super snob?
However, a new season-long preview suggests that, in Episode 5,Kalon refers to Emily's daughter Ricki as "baggage." We see Em get enraged and tell him "Get the f-ck out of here."
Putting together his arrival, Chris’ words about him and his own words about himself, it’s looking like Kalon could be the season’s “bad guy.” If so, you can either thank or blame Houston for providing the franchise with so many dramatic contestants!
