Dancing With the Stars 2014: Is This Maksim Chmerkovskiy’s Year to Win?

As soon as we heard Maksim Chmerkovskiy was returning for Dancing With the Stars Season 18, we started to wonder if this could finally be the year the long time pro claims the Mirror Ball. Then he was paired with Meryl Davis, and that hope started looking more like a strong possibility.

We're not the only ones who think so — many fans think this could be Maks' year, too.

Wetpaint Entertainment teamed up with Viggle during the most recent episode of Dancing With the Stars to ask fans if they think this is Maks' season to take home the top prize, and a full 79 percent said, "Yes, he could totally win." That means only 21 percent thought Maks was sure to strike out again.

It's easy to see why fans have faith in Maks and Meryl. They earned the first 10s of the season for Meryl's Week 3 Foxtrot, pulling in an impressive 29/30. They clearly get along, and Maks seems incredibly inspired by Meryl, who clearly has the talent to pull off whatever he throws her way.

Of course, that doesn't mean the win is a done deal. This season is shaping up to be a fierce competition and, of course, Meryl's own skating partner, Charlie White, might be the toughest to beat of the lot. Still, at least at this point, we'd be pretty surprised if Maks and Meryl don't at least make the finale.
