...already we’re wondering the same thing every shameless fan is: When’s the reunion tour? After all, the boys did just sign up for Twitter the day before the awards show.
Justin Timberlake is in the best shape of his life, dancing and singing in front of millions of fans all year long, but the rest of the boys have been out of the game for about a decade. But who cares? We would seriously buy tickets to watch them sit around a dinette table and talk to one another, so a tour of any variety would be amazing. Is it possible?
Um, no. Even though New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys went back on the road together, the guys of *N SYNC don’t have any plans to do the same. “No … Look, again … it was just about five guys who were great friends who spent 10 or 15 years together touring and we … wanted to give that back to our fans, but we were there mainly to support Justin,” JC Chasez told Ryan Seacrest the morning after the VMAs.
[Sound of a million girls crying]
While that totally sucks, it was pretty rad to see the guys together once more, which JC agrees was the highlight. But though the boys were definitely down to do it, it wasn’t their careers they had in mind. “It really was about him and all that he’s accomplished, but he wanted to acknowledge that part of his career so we all decided to do it.”
For his part, Chris Kirkpatrick was “scared to death” to do the performance — because he didn’t want to let his boy JT down. He originally expected that the dance portion of things would be more silk pajama crooning than full-on steps, so he was surprised when he came home “drenched” from rehearsal.
“I’m too old for this,” he says of getting down with Justin’s fancy footwork. And he too was quick to stave off rumors that this is step one to a reunion. “No, this was for Justin to get the Video Vanguard Award and it was funny because all of us getting back together, we remembered what we like about each other… we remembered what we hate about each other.”
Are you bummed *N SYNC won’t be back for more, or are they better off letting their great moment shine alone?
