She’d taken another job with the Crawley family’s Scottish cousins, who were headed to India, leaving troublesome daughter Rose (Lily James) behind with their English counterparts. The sudden decampment made for a slightly awkward breakfast the morning following O’Brien’s departure, but things carried on as they do at Downton.
Still, Cora (Elizabeth McGovern) had a devil of a time finding a suitable replacement, eventually settling on a referral from Thomas. Phyllis Baxter (Raquel Cassidy) joined the downstairs staff halfway through Season 4 and while she’s befriended fellow outsider Mr. Moseley (Kevin Doyle), the nature of her relationship with Thomas remains in the shadows as we head toward Season 5.
Could O’Brien be the one to come clear out those cobwebs? The report, which we admit comes from a rather questionable source (U.K. tabloid The Sun), claims Siobhan would be all about returning to the show.
“I’d love playing her but she’d have to go back for some reason. I’d love to return and wreck the Bates’ marriage or something like that,” the Irish actress supposedly told the outlet (via The Belfast Telegraph). “Maybe one day O’Brien will fly back on her broomstick to cause mischief and mayhem.”
If she does, she best stay away from the Bateses. Those two need a little peace and quiet!
What would you make of O’Brien coming back? All for it or think she should stay in India? Tell us in the comments!
