Is Santana Leaving Glee? — Rumor Patrol

This is clearly an exciting time for Glee — as the show gears up to return with new episodes, including its 100th episode — but it's also a bit of an uneasy time, too. With the show changing course and moving to NYC, we're bound to shed some beloved characters in the transition. Here's the moment of truth: Could Santana (Naya Rivera) be leaving Glee for good?

Our fear that Santana's not sticking with the show stems from the initial article from The Hollywood Reporter that announced the shift to NYC. "[After the 100th episode, Glee] will then do several consecutive episodes set in New York City, centering on Rachel (Lea Michele), Blaine (Darren Criss), Kurt (Chris Colfer), Sam (Chord Overstreet), and Mercedes (Amber Riley) and potentially other co-stars," the article stated last month.

And while we're excited to see those characters all in the Big Apple together, we can't overlook the fact that Santana's name is not mentioned in that sentence. Is this a sign that Naya — given her busy schedule, with her impending wedding and burgeoning music career — is ready to part ways with the show? After all, it sounds like Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz) won't be moving to NYC. Sob.

Thankfully, Santana doesn't appear to actually be departing. For starters, she is pictured in a photo from the Glee shoot for Season 5, Episode 14: "New New York" as the cast recreates the Friends opening. And this tweet from a Glee insider also reassures us:

Phew! We can't imagine what we do if Santana and her psychic Mexican third eye were no longer on the show, but we'd probably create the type of angry ruckus that Santana's Lima Heights pals would be proud of.

Do you think there's any chance that Naya might be leaving the show?
