Patrick Dempsey (Derek Shepherd) said some seemingly not-so-flattering things about Grey's Anatomy last week, though he quickly clarified that he loves working on the show, even if racing is his biggest passion right now. Does he love it enough to stick around after Season 10? Does he think there will be a show after Season 10? He recently weighed in on these very questions to The Hollywood Reporter.
"I don't think it will be [the last season]," Patrick said, which sounds pretty darned confident. "I think it will continue on."
Before you get your party streamers out, there's a catch. Patrick added, "whether or not we're in the show, I think the show will continue on. I know Shonda [Rhimes] would like it to continue."
Whether or not we're in the show? That's the kind of waffling that makes us worry that we might have to face a McDreamy-less Grey Sloan Memorial one day, and we definitely don't like it.
That said, we know we have a full season left with Mer, Der, and all of the original cast, and it should be a good one. Patrick teased that we'll see Derek "spending more time with the children than his career," at least at the start of Season 10, which should stir up some tensions in the MerDer relationship. As he says, "They can't be just be happy." Sigh.
