The Originals: Is There Hope For Marcel and Rebekah? Joseph Morgan Says…

Now that we’ve seen the backstory behind Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) and Rebekah Mikaelson’s (Claire Holt) complicated relationship, we we’re rooting for them as our favorite vampire couple on The Originals.

Episode 2 (“House of the Rising Son”) really gave us some perspective on the intense family ties that bind the OG family together, and Joseph Morgan (Klaus Mikaelson) hasn’t changed his mind about the couple — for the time being.

“First of all, Klaus is incredibly possessive over his siblings' love,” Joseph told The Hollywood Reporter. “And you'll see in the future, if either of them spend too much time or affection on someone else, he doesn't like it. He wants to be the center of their world and it really comes from the feeling of not enough affirmation or love as a child — especially from his parents, his father particularly.”

So why is he raining all over Rebekah’s parade? “He really, really loves Rebekah and no one's ever good enough for her,” Joseph shared. “And for Marcel, that's his friend and the person he brought in as a son. Now that they're starting something special, Klaus feels left out. He's really insecure about that.”

But could we expect things to change in this dynamic anytime soon? “I don't know,” Joseph admitted. “I feel like if he could make it serve him, then he's maybe more in favor of it. But at the moment it gets him nothing — other than less attention from his sister and Marcel so he doesn't like it.”

Sounds like Klaus has some major problems to work out — preferably with a shrink instead of by killing people. But, for now, we can expect Klaus and Rebekah to gang up together and try to take down Marcel’s overbearing regime.

Hit the comments and let us know what you think about Klaus’s feelings about Rebekah and Marcel’s relationship.

Episode 3 of The Originals airs tonight, Tuesday, October 15, at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
