Fashion photographer, former (*tear*) America's Next Top Model judge, and current host of The Face Nigel Barker knows a thing or two about working with high powered supermodels. From the women he photographs to models-turned-businesswoman like Tyra Banks and Naomi Campbell (producer of The Face), he's worked with plenty of women who often get called divas. However, it turns out Nigel doesn't agree with that label.
During a recent interview with HuffPost Live, Nigel resisted saying that Naomi or Tyra's diva reputations translate to working on set with them ... though he didn't argue that they aren't sometimes harsh.
"If they were men, successful men at the top if their business ... and they were heated, or were serious with what they had to say and raised their voice ... [it would be] 'Oh, that's because he's successful, and this is where he's at in his business.' I think because these are very pretty women all of a sudden they get called a 'diva.'"
How about that for some feminism in action? Go Nigel!
He added that sure, sometimes Naomi and Tyra can be demanding, but "demanding, sometimes, is what you need to be when you're at the top of your game and you're the executive producer of a show and you do all the rest of it."
He added that he takes his hat off to "both Naomi and Tyra" — even if he admits those women "haven't been the best of friends" themselves.
