Jacob Artist Signs With New Talent Agency — Is He Leaving Glee?

Glee newbie Jacob Artist (Jake) is leaving behind his old talent agency, and moving on to a new one. The 20-year-old actor, who joined the show at the start of Season 4 last year, has left APA talent agency in order to sign with United Talent Agency, Deadline reports.

That’s great and all, you might say. But what does it mean for his future on
Glee? Well, possibly nothing. And possibly very much something big. When actors swich agencies, it usually means that they are looking to make a change in their career. This could include going after film roles, higher visibility, or gasp! leaving behind their current gig for good.

Dianna Agron (Quinn) appointed new management when she wanted to decrease her time on Glee and break into movies, but Cory Monteith (Finn) also appointed new management to increase his film opportunities, yet he continued to maintain a steady presence on the show.

So while this switch could mean that Jacob wants off
Glee, we’re not willing to bet on that quite yet. Becca Tobin (Kitty) and Chord Overstreet (Sam) also signed with new agencies or talent managers in the past few months, and we’ve heard nothing of any departure so far.

So far, none of the Glee actors have official deals to return. But since Season 5 will pick up mid-school year, it seems fairly certain that no one is leaving the show quite yet. However, plenty of rumors have been flying that Glee might adopt an all-NYC format in Season 6, or even the second half of Season 5.

If that really is the case, then Jacob might be wise to keep his options open. It never hurts to be prepared.
