Real Housewives of New Jersey Hires Back Jacqueline Laurita — Report (VIDEO)

UPDATE 8/8: Sources tell Us Weekly that Jacqueline is returning — to film some extra scenes for Season 6, anyway. See, apparently Bravo is actually going to film some extra scenes for this season (at least some of which will have to do with Tre and Joe's sentencing), and Jac has been included in some of those extra moments. The source also says Dina is not happy about it.

ORIGINAL STORY: Pass the salt because we’re not 100 percent sure about a new report claiming Bravo’s asked Jacqueline Laurita to return to Real Housewives of New Jersey and that she’s agreed. This, remember, is the star Bravo fired (or so says TMZ) at the end of last season.

The Jersey mama has kept quiet about her exit from the reality TV series ever since it made headlines late last year. TMZ says producers let her go because “she was dealing with family issues at the time and she was so preoccupied she lost her edge.”

If Ms. Jacque is indeed returning, she’s sticking with the plan and staying mum for now. Her last tweet, sent earlier today, is a #TBT photo of her and her scrunch-and-dry hair back in the day. While hilarious, it’s not exactly a foolproof indication she’s returning to the Bravo fold. A better hint is a tweet she sent earlier this week telling a fan she’d “never say never” to returning to the show.

Why would the network be casting mid-season anyway? Sources tell TMZ it’s all about the lackluster ratings so far. As we reported just yesterday, Season 6 ratings dipped once again despite a slight uptick in drama during Sunday night’s episode. A mere 1.75 million people tuned in for the August 3 show, not exactly the kind of out of the ballpark numbers Bravo has grown accustomed to with powerhouse series like Real Housewives of Atlanta.

In asking her back, Bravo execs supposedly hope she’ll butt heads with sister-in-law Dina Manzo, who TMZ says is “pissed” Jacque might be back. Bravo, meanwhile, has no comment so we wouldn’t make those “welcome back Jacqueline” shirts quite yet.

What do you think? Jacqueline on her way back or just a rumor?
