Jacqueline Laurita Says Having an Autistic Son Gives Her “Purpose”
While participating in the 6th Annual Rescue Our Angels fundraiser, The Real Housewives of New Jersey star Jacqueline Laurita spoke with The Trending Report on how she got involved with the organization and how her life changed when her three-year-old son Nicholas was diagnosed with autism.
“I’ve learned so many things, you learn patience … it’s given me a purpose a mission, not only to recover my son, but to help as many families as I can. It’s a whole different — I don’t even know how to put in words,” Jacqueline dished to the reporter. She later added, “I’m enjoying the challenge every single day.”
“It was really scary,” Jacqueline said about seeing her son lose words and regress in behavior, months before he was officially diagnosed. “His regression was devastating.”
Since then Jacqueline has been extremely proactive in her son’s development, including a very strict diet and lots of therapy.
“Diet was huge for him, it took awhile to understand the diet, to do it correct and it’s a challenge, the diet in itself but i wanted him to be healthy on the inside so he can do better with his therapy,” Jac said.
And it’s obviously working as the little tyke is doing better. “He’s responding to therapies,” Jacqueline said. “He’s got back some language and he’s making progress.
