Jaden Smith wants to move out! Will Smith revealed in an interview with The Sun that his son Jaden, who is also his co-star in the sci-fi action flick After Earth, has a pretty steep order on his birthday list: emancipation.
Jaden turns 15 in July, and for his birthday, he wants to be out from under any parental thumbs, get his own apartment and... basically be an adult.
“That’s the backlash,” says Will on he and his wife Jada Pinkett-Smith’s parenting philosophy, which eschews punishment and lets their offspring make their own decisions, “On the other side, if kids just want to take control of their lives, I understand.”
What 15-year-old doesn’t want to hurry up and have the fun parts of being a grown-up, like their own apartment? But as Buzz60 put it, “A 15-year old millionaire who can’t even drive yet, living by himself in his own house? What could possibly go wrong?”
Should Will and Jada let Jaden out on his own? Maybe they should take some baby steps first? How does this fit into their no-punishment child-rearing philosophy?
