Changing partners just heightened the are they/aren’t they showmance of original partners James Maslow and Peta Murgatroyd. On Week 4, James danced with Cheryl Burke and Peta danced with Charlie White. But, during the show, James tweeted to Charlie that he shouldn’t get too comfortable with Peta, feeding into the romance rumors that started following Peta and James before the cast was even announced.
DWTS co-host Erin Andrews picked up the baton, cornering James and Peta to ask if they were really dating, adding that she wants a Dancing With the Stars baby. James joked about there being no time for babies when they’re dancing.
After the show, he talked to E! about the baby joke. "Thanks, Erin!" James said. "I appreciate that one. I'm 23 years-old, I'm not even going to think about a baby for, I don't know, 10 more years! So very cute, thanks for bringing that one out live." He’s just joking around, and Peta seemed to love it. "That was funny!” she said. “Oh my gosh, I don't know where this is going to end, but we're having a great time with each other and yeah, leave it at that!"
There are worse fates than to be locked in a lighthearted showmance story. For example, there’s Maksim Chmerkovskiy’s fate, accused of phoning in your dance so you can get back to your beloved original star. That’s a bit of a darker twist on the romance angle!
What do you think? Did you like Erin’s dating/baby joke? Are you sick of the James/Peta showmance angle?
