Glee Star’s Marriage Over: Jane Lynch Officially Files For Divorce

We first learned about a month ago that Glee’s Jane Lynch (Sue) and her wife of three years, Dr. Lara Embry, were headed for divorce. Now it’s official. People is reporting that Jane officially filed for divorce on Friday, July 12.

The magazine reports that Jane and Lara actually separated as early as February 2, 2013. It also reveals that Jane filed with the Los Angeles Superior Court, citing irreconcilable differences. She’s also seeking to terminate the court’s jurisdiction to award Lara spousal support.

Jane is currently in New York City, the outlandish and evil Miss Hannigan in Broadway’s Annie: The Musical. She and Lara married in Massachusetts in 2010, which at the time was one of the few states to allow gay marriage. (Shoutout to the DOMA/Prop 8 defeat.)

"Lara and I have decided to end our marriage,” Jane said in a statement when news of her impending divorce first broke. “This has been a difficult decision for us as we care very deeply about one another. We ask for privacy as we deal with this family matter.” The couple has one child, Haden, Lara’s daughter from a previous relationship.

But while this marriage is ending, more than a few Glee stars are preparing to tie the knot. Matthew Morrison (Mr. Schue) got engaged to his model fiance Renee Puente on June 27, and co-stars Blake Jenner (Ryder) and Melissa Benoist (Marley) are also reported to be engaged.
