UPDATE: TMZ now reports that Lara Embry is asking Jane Lynch for a total of $93,809 a month in spousal support! Yes, like almost $100,000. The site has obtained legal documents in which Lara says Jane makes about $234,688, and that Lara has become used to the lavish lifestyle her Glee star wife treated her to when they were married.
Lara makes significantly less than Jane, but spends about $40,900 per month: $6,500 on clothes, $12,000 on entertainment, gifts, and vacation, and $4,500 on eating out. Sources tell TMZ that Jane is already supporting Lara and her daughter, and that she's moved out of the couple's house so that the two can keep living there. Additionally, TMZ reports that they're hearing that Jane and Lara do not have a prenup, which means all their collective earnings during their marriage will be split 50/50.
Original story: Jane Lynch (Sue) and wife Lara Embry separated back in February 2013 after three years of marriage, and the couple recently announced to the public that they are moving forward with a divorce. But while Jane has maintained that things are all good between them, Lara isn’t ready to walk away without some money in the deal.
Jane officially filed for divorce on July 12, and Lara is asking that the Glee actress pays for her attorney fees and spousal support — and Jane doesn’t want that. In fact, she asked in her papers that the court's jurisdiction to award spousal support to her ex be terminated, though the exact amount Lara is asking for has not been released.
"Lara and I have decided to end our marriage,” Jane said in a statement when news of her impending divorce first broke. “This has been a difficult decision for us as we care very deeply about one another. We ask for privacy as we deal with this family matter.”
The two were married in May 2010 in Massachusetts, which was one of the only states where same-sex marriage was legal at the time. The couple never had kids together, though Lara has a daughter named Haden from a previous relationship.
