The lovely and talented Jane Lynch (Sue) had a productive weekend, snagging an Emmy at the 2014 Creative Arts Emmy Awards on August 16 in Los Angeles, but surprisingly, Jane’s win had nothing to do with Glee. Curious to know what the 54-year-old actress took home an award for? Read on to find out!
Jane was victorious in the Outstanding Host For a Reality or Reality-Competition Program category for her work on Hollywood Game Night, beating out the likes of Betty White (Betty White’s Off Their Rockers), Tom Bergeron (Dancing With the Stars), Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn (Project Runway), Cat Deeley (So You Think You Can Dance), and Anthony Bourdain (The Taste). Jane had some tough competition but we’re glad she was the one to walk away with the Emmy.
In her acceptance speech, Deadlinequotes Jane as calling out HGN executive producer (and former Will and Grace star) Sean Hayes during her acceptance speech. “Sean Hayes, thank you for taking your crazy party and pitching it to NBC,” she quipped. “Thank you NBC for taking the bait. I hope we’ll do more. I’m tickled pink, actually.”
We love Hollywood Game Night and think Jane does a great job hosting. We’re also big fans seeing Glee stars stop by the show!
Speaking of Glee, even though Jane was at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards on official HGN business, the FOX dramedy wasn’t far from her mind. Deadline says backstage Jane praised Glee for being “impactful” for kids, adding she’s glad the show will be seen by future generations thanks to syndication.
Are you thrilled by Jane’s Emmy win? Wish it was for Glee instead? Sound off below!
