Janet Jackson Gets Emotional During Live Performance of “What About” (UPDATE)
UPDATE (9/10/17 at 3:50pm ET): Janet Jackson got emotional while performing "What About" during a Houston, Texas show on her new State of the World tour Saturday night.
The track is from the singer's 1997 album The Velvet Rope.
It details an abusive relationship.
According to ET, dancers performed choreographed abusive situations while Janet sang the song, which includes lyrics "What about the times you yelled at me? / What about the times I cried?" and "What about the times you hit my face? /What about the times you kept on when I said, 'No more please' / What about those things?"
When she finished singing, the star reportedly fought through tears to gesture toward the dancers and tell the audience "This is me."
Janet recently split from her third husband Wissam Al Mana three months after giving birth to their son, Eissa.

Original Story (9/8/17 at 9:05am ET): Miss Jackson if you’re nasty!
Just nine months after Janet Jackson gave birth to son Eissa, the new mom has returned to the stage for her State of the World tour, which kicked off last night.
And judging by what we’ve seen so far, she’s back and better than ever!
This has been in the works for some time, after Janet’s pregnancy caused her to delay the tour last April to focus on starting her family.
But fans got a sneak peek at what was to come — and her killer post-baby body! — in August.
“Hey u guys. I’m so excited for the State of the World Tour" she captioned the photo.
“We r in rehearsal mode," she continued. “See u guys in 1 month!”
Well, that day finally arrived on Thursday, September 7, when the 51-year-old did her first performance at Lafayette, Louisiana.
Not only did she look like her old ‘90s self, she was dancing like it, too!
Her many all-black, form-fitting ensembles did wonders to show off her new figure.
Plus, they gave her lots of room to move just as well as she did in years past!
Of course, this had the lucky fans in the audience gushing on Twitter, and sharing plenty of videos of her high-energy performance.
“Janet over here not missing a beat and looking youthful as ever #SOTW,” one person tweeted alongside a video clip.
Also chiming in on the “Rhythm Nation” singer’s comeback? Missy Elliott!
The rapper responded to one of the fierce dancing clips on Twitter, writing, “Yup @JanetJackson said what y’all thought she was playing? this what she do! Snatch edges for a living.”
This is only the beginning, too!
The next stop for the icon will be Houston — despite the current state of devastation the city has been left in following Hurricane Harvey.
“We’re going to roll in early because we wanted to visit some of the shelters,” she said on Wednesday.
“And not just visit some of the shelters, we also want to do something special. So, we’ll see you Friday!”
Welcome back, Janet!
