Bachelorette Canada’s Jasmine Lorimer and Kevin Wendt Break Up After 5 Months

Another one bites the dust!

Apparently, it’s hard to turn a couple of months of group dates and brief 1-on-1s into lasting marriage for all Bachelor and Bachelorette couples — no matter the country.

We learned that this week when Bachelorette Canada’s most recent couple, Jasmine Lorimer and Kevin Wendt, called it quits after just five months together.

Fans of the show will remember the two getting engaged in the November 2016 finale, when the hairdresser chose the firefighter over fan favorite Mikhel Sickand.

It was a surprise to many, as the two had a serious fight during their Fantasy Suites date that almost ended their relationship.

“I care about you so much, and I love you,” Jasmine gushed in the finale, also pointing out their “crazy electricity.”

He then proposed, saying, “I really love you a lot. This is the happiest day right now.”

However, months passed, and the pair hadn’t been seen together in recent weeks.

They last posted about one another on social media in late February on a couple’s trip to St. Lucia.

Fast forward seven weeks later, and on April 13, the Bachelorette broke the news of their split on Instagram.

Alongside a photo of the sunset, she wrote, “There's no denying that Kevin and I have experienced our share of ups and downs. Our journey together has been a challenging one, but in spite of the hardships, our bond grew stronger and our support for one another did as well.

“Even so, our differences and the physical distance have taken a toll on us and a couple of months ago, we decided to end our relationship and take some time to work on ourselves individually,” she then revealed.

Though the pair separated months ago with “no hard feelings,” she admitted it’s been “more difficult than we anticipated.”

She gushed, “Kevin is a fantastic person with a huge heart and holds so many incredible qualities … I will never forget what a beautiful year we have shared. Nothing about this has been easy. We appreciate everyone's support.”

Meanwhile, Kevin shared his own message on the breakup, alongside a throwback pic of them in happier times.

“I’m sad to share, at this point in our lives we have decided that it is best we go our separate ways,” he started, before citing the difficulties of finding love in the show environment.

“With [The Bachelorette] comes a mental and emotional test from day one,” he conceded, before noting how much of a “better man” he is now because of her.

He finished, “Although rough at times, the year we have spent together is something I wouldn't change or want to experience with anyone else.”

Though they’d experienced challenges from almost the beginning, it seems from both of their messages that distance played the biggest role in the end of their engagement.

While Kevin is based in Toronto, Jasmine calls British Columbia home, and they never found a mutual home base.

Still, even months into her newly-single life, the blonde beauty opened up about how she’s “struggled to let go.”

“Saying goodbye has never been a strength of mine,” she captioned a selfie on April 15.

She concluded, “Take a moment to be grateful for all of the people who have come and gone and remember that we are all an important part of each other's journey through life, no matter how it can feel in the moment.
