The Walking Dead’s Jeffrey Dean Morgan is every bit the motorhead biker co-star Norman Reedus is.

Now, the TWD villain is getting the chance to show off some of his cruising skills with an important new role.

Jeffrey has been tapped to play a big part in the Indy 500 this Sunday — he’ll be driving the pace car.

The pace car is used to lead the drivers in a few warm-up laps before the race and may be called upon to slow the speed of the race in potentially dangerous situations.

Many past pacers have been former drivers and people related to the sport.

But recently, celebrities have stepped into the role, with the likes of Sam Jackson, Guy Fieri, and Josh Duhamel taking turns behind the wheel.

Jeffrey will be driving a 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport Pace Car — a car with a somewhat historical backstory.

The Chevrolet Corvette is the vehicle used most often to pace the Indy 500 — this being the 14th time such a car makes an appearance in the race, according to Fox News.

Indianapolis Motor Speedway President J. Douglas Boles issued a statement welcoming Jeffrey to the race with open arms.

“We’re honored to welcome Jeffrey Dean Morgan to IMS to drive the 2017 Corvette Grand Sport Pace Car,” he began.

“He’s used to playing the ultimate villain in The Walking Dead, but he’ll be an envied hero to millions of race fans around the world when he gets to lead the field to the green flag of the 101st Indianapolis 500 in such a beautiful Corvette.”

The Walking Dead returns to AMC this October.
