ESPN Anchor Jemele Hill Calls President Trump a White Supremacist
ESPN is speaking out after their anchor Jemele Hill called President Trump a white supremacist earlier this week.
The sports journalist fired off a series of tweets regarding the former Apprentice host that garnered serious attention on social media.
Many fans stood in support of Jemele’s comments about white privilege in America, while others criticized ESPN for not being harder on her.
On Monday, September 11, the 41-year-old shared her thoughts on the POTUS and his actions in the White House.
“Donald Trump is a white supremacist who has largely surrounded himself w/ other white supremacists,” she said.
“The height of white privilege is being able to ignore his white supremacy, because it’s of no threat to you. Well, it’s a threat to me.”

She continued, “Trump is the most ignorant, offensive president of my lifetime. His rise is a direct result of white supremacy. Period. He is unqualified and unfit to be president.
“He is not a leader. And if he were not white, he never would have been elected.”

ESPN then released a statement regarding the tweets on Tuesday, September 12.
“The comments on Twitter from Jemele Hill regarding the president do not represent the position of ESPN,” they shared.
“We have addressed this with Jemele and she recognizes her actions were inappropriate.”
Social media came to Jemele’s defense with one user tweeting, “I stand with Jemele Hill. She was honest and said what many of us have been saying for years.”
NFL star Colin Kaepernick tweeted, “We are with you @jemelehill.”
Another person said, “Jemele Hill for ESPN president.”
Y'all mad at @jemelehill but white supremacist think trump is a white supremacist...... I'm just sayingTerrance Knighton (@MisterRoast98) September 13, 2017
However, some people were unhappy with ESPN’s response, saying they should have suspended Jemele for her comments.
“So @espn suspended Linda Cohn for saying ESPN was talking too much politics. Didn't suspend Jemele Hill for saying Trump was a racist,” one person tweeted.
“#ESPN pulled announcer named Robert Lee from game bc of his name ... But lets #JemeleHill Trump 'white supremacist' comments slide. RACIST!” wrote another.
