Watch Jena Irene Sing “Barracuda” in American Idol 2014 Top 6 — April 23, 2014
We’re almost down to a handful of contestants on Season 13 of American Idol, which means the competition is the fiercest it’s been since we started back in January. Instead of the usual duet performances we’ve been seeing over the last few weeks, the hopefuls will be taking on two songs apiece. It’s sure to be an interesting challenge, as the numbers will be strikingly different from each other: one that’s a little bit country and another that’s rock ‘n’ roll. (Yeah, that was a Donny and Marie reference. Don’t judge us. It’s Idol’s fault.)
Taking the stage for her first song of the night is Jena Irene Asciutto, who’s ready to unleash her inner rock goddess with Heart’s “Barracuda.” As usual, her signature vocals are powerful and spot-on — and she definitely knows how to work a sparkly gold top and houndstooth pants!
“God, that was a great way to start the show,” says Keith. “That was a perfect song for your voice and range. You really set the bar high. That was just a killer performance.”
“You have a real chance of getting to the finale,” adds J.Lo. “Last week was a pivotal week for you. And what it’s going to take to get you there is performances like that every single time. Any little added piece to push yourself and complete your performance is what’s going to help you win.”
